That's no lady, that's the fly lady

And I am now taking flying lessons from her. Some of you have already gone through the beginning steps and are well on your way being able to fly freely. I can't remember if I read about the Fly Lady on one of your blogs or in Newsweek or somewhere, but thanks to whoever did write about her. I like her permission giving, and affirming attitude. Who would have thought that a shiny clean sink could be the perfect start to the whole act of decluttering, the Fly Lady did, and now I have a shiny sink. So the decluttering has begun in my house and my husband has even gotten into it, by cleaning out his pants. Bravo. He even made sure the bathtub was clean after the kids got through with their baths last night. Yea! I had told him what I was doing. If you recall I had written a post about my need to declutter. I had already started decluttering some things, but not ever really knowing how, it was a haphazard job and I found myself wanting to avoid certain areas. But not anymore, I now have the courage, the no how and the way to do it. I am not going to be able to do everything she says to do the way she says to do it, and that's okay. I'll do what I can when I can, I got to work too. Okay, got to run, the Fly Lady is telling me its time for more flying lessons. See you when I get through with this one.

Yeah!

I'm a FlyLady fan, too. Fully Loving Yourself.

I just wish she'd take it into a deeper more spiritual aspect ... a theological aspect.

Fully Loving Yourself = Taking Care of things and Putting to Order.

God puts things to Order (calls into Order from Chaos all of creation.)

By Fully Loving Yourself you are loving the part that is most like God. (Doctrine of Imago Dei.)

See how it works?

I love my clean and shiny sink -- but I've a friend whose "sink" is the bed. If the bed is made, all is right with the world. What does it for me is clean kitchen counters....

Yeah for Abi!

FlyLady definitely helped me with the decluttering...I've fallen off the wagon with the clean sink tho.

Miss Smarty Pants and Mary Beth are big fans also -
My mom is the FlyLady of our family, so I learned it early on - it's revolutionary!!

I tried (successfully) the idea of cleaning one area of the house for 15 minutes each day - and each day I did a different area - had a relatively clean house, I did...worked really well when I was on vacation this summer...not so well now that I am up to my eyeballs in work...but I still try. Love the concept and hope your decluttering continues to go well!!!

She has some great ideas and lists too. I found her constant emails frustrating though, so I am fly-free and it shows! Glad you found her though.

I am a Fly Lady fan too, but had all the fly lady tendencies before I found her site. She merely confirmed what I already knew - that order is definitely better than chaos.

I have loved FlyLady for years!!! I am still having to work at it, but she is so great. One time I told someone that FlyLady was actually a part of my religion. They were horrified. That's ok. :) But what I meant by it was that FlyLady is God's face for me in places where I sometimes don't/can't see it. As RM said so well!

I need to take lessons from FLY lady too!
I have been meaning to drop by and say howdy. Also to let you know i have been worshipping ina church of your denomination because there is only one of my denomination in town and I am not "permitted" to go there. Well, not that I would actually want to anyway!
But, I have become a regular at one of "your kind" and I must say. I really, really like it.
Had a fantastic Ashe Wed. service and have been warmly welcomed and included in many fascets of worhiship and activities there.
So, there. Very happy, but more than ready for a new call.
Hope B abd the kids are good

I'm with 1-4 Grace; I NEED the Flylady's help.

But everyone needs a little fun, right? In the interest of fun, I've tagged you for a book meme; hope you don't mind.

You haven't blogged for a while; I hope you're OK but just busy.

Rev Abi, Is everything okay at your house? You don't usually go this long between posts. Wondering if you or the kids have the crud that's rampant around here. Prayers for whatever is going on.

Imagine my surprise when I saw where you were from . I have lived in Oregon the past 2 years but grew up and lived 36 years until I got married in Tishomingo County, MS so I am very familar with the Shoals area. I worked at ECM for about a year many years ago. So Glad to have found you.
